Burgers + Chili, Booze + Crafts | Start Spring off Right

Rock & Roll Chili Pit and DYI Bar open today! Just in time to celebrate the season.

It’s Spring! Finally we can shed our jackets and feel the sun’s warm embrace… well maybe not today, but soon. No matter what the temperature, it is officially the season of fresh beginnings, and what better way to celebrate the change in seasons than experiencing something brand-new? Lucky for you, there are two establishments opening today that suit the occasion perfectly — Rock and Roll Chili Pit, and DIY Bar.

Rock and Roll Chili Pit

It is still a little cold outside, so what better than a burger smothered in delicious chili to warm you up? Rock and Roll Chili Pit serves chili (duh), burgers (yum), and boozy milkshakes (you had me at ‘hello’). The restaurant is located in downtown Portland’s Block 300 Building at 304 SW 2nd Ave. Come hungry and, based on the photo below, with a bib. Urban Works‘ own Rob Moneyhan worked diligently with the great folks at the Rock and Roll Chili Pit in finding them the best location to suit their delicious needs, while our very own Dan Bozich and Kia Hartley represented the landlord. Great teamwork guys! And a big congratulations to Mark & Robin McCrary!  It’s time to party.

DIY Bar

Tired of sitting alone in the dark corner of a dive bar while crafting your own leather beer cozies? Fret not! DIY Bar is opening today with a full menu of Arts and Crafts (along with wine, beer, and cider) to soothe your creative tendencies.  Located at 3522 N Vancouver in North Portland’s N Williams District, DIY Bar is available to reserve for large parties (up to 49 people), small groups and individual spots (walk-ins are welcome, but space is limited, so book in advance in order to guarantee a spot). Urban Works’ Nicole Onder helped the Gorske brothers (below) find the perfect location to open their unique business in one of Portland’s busiest neighborhoods. Great job Nicole, and congratulations to Jason and Adam!
